 Roopkund is a popular tourist destination in Uttarakhand. It is located at an elevation of about 15,000 feet on the banks of the Tons River. Roopkund also known as Mystery Lake has a unique story behind it.

The first thing that you will notice about this lake is that it is not a natural lake but rather a glacier-fed lake that has been formed by melting glaciers and snowfall on the slopes of the Himalayas. The second thing that you will notice about this place is its historical significance.

This place was first discovered by British mountaineers in 1942 when they were trekking through this region in search of new peaks to conquer. They found human skeletons scattered around what they thought was a natural ice-covered pond, but later realized was actually a man-made one.

 इस जगह की खोज सर्वप्रथम 1942 में ब्रिटिश पर्वतारोहियों द्वारा की गई थी जब वे इस क्षेत्र के माध्यम से नई चोटियों की तलाश में ट्रेकिंग कर रहे थे। उन्होंने मानव कंकालों को इधर-उधर बिखरा हुआ पाया जो उन्हें लगा कि यह एक प्राकृतिक बर्फ से ढका तालाब है, लेकिन बाद में उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि यह वास्तव में मानव निर्मित है।
